Facilitation and Council/Network Development

Strong community food systems are built through collaboration — and often anchored by food policy councils, health coalitions, and cross-sector networks that convene stakeholders, align strategy, and mobilize for action.

I support communities in forming and strengthening these councils and networks through facilitation, strategic design, and ongoing coaching. My approach centers trust-building, shared decision-making, equity, and practical governance — ensuring councils and networks are not only well-designed, but equipped to do meaningful work.

Selected examples of this work include:

I led the establishment of a state-level food policy council, bringing together statewide partners to strengthen the Kansas food system and influence state-level policy.

I facilitate the Independent Advisory Committee that uses participatory grantmaking methods to award grants to food policy councils across the country.

I supported City and County staff in the creation of the Food and Farm Council, and then provided coaching and technical assistance to onboard the newly appointed council members. (with New Venture Advisors)

I supported Lakeshore Flavor and community partners in establishing a county-level food policy council, identifying members, establishing community agreements, and structuring early community engagement activities. (with New Venture Advisors)
